This week, It is time to know about one of our traditions which we follow widely and the scientific meaning behind it.
The Myth behind throwing coins into the water.
People believe that throwing a penny into the water bring the Goddess of Wealth, Lakshmi into their lives.
Some think that throwing penny into the river gives them good health-though it is partly correct.
This is an ancient practice which is being followed for years.
Not to be confused with 'Fortune fountains' seen in Foreign countries where the penny thrown into the fountain is mainly used for charity.
These Fountains do make more money as most of which are located in the major spots. The people who crosses it prays, leaves a penny or two.
The money collected from there are used to prepare food for less fortune.
When it comes to our country, the myth is different.
We never care much about our health but money. Don't we?
Our ancestors indeed knew this well and they made their children to believe that throwing coins into water brings luck when it actually improves your health.
As we all know, water is the most essential for human and in those days, rivers and the well were the major source of water. Our ancestors used that water for everything, literally.
The coins were made out of copper. An essential element for human to maintain health.
The coins when thrown into the river will slowly dissolve and pull down the dirt, allowing fresh water to flow freely on the top making it health for the people to drink.
Ancestors tricked us and made us to believe that throwing a penny brings more money.
Although the coins aren't made of copper now a days, the tradition is followed widely till now.
Do we need to stop now?
Oh wait, We did stop at most of the places not because we knew the reason but we already ran out of water.
Hope you liked it :)
