"All those who wander are not lost"
This week, it is all about the place which I visited a few months ago.
The Alamparai Fort

WHERE?
Situated near the village of Kadappakkam, the ruins of Alamparai fort is indeed a place less traveled.
It is around 50kms from Mamallapuram.
HOW DID WE GO?
Four of us took a car and it was around two and half hours drive to the fort.
I have to mention the road which you have to take. It was a picture perfect with lush green on either side. Normally, the road is calm and if you are a lover of a long drive, this is a bliss.
As you get close to the fort, you can see the white beach. A right from the beautiful road is the fort or the ruins of the fort. You will see a big wall surrounded by weeds and vegetation. The path is covered by the sand and once you cross like 500 meters you will reach the beach. The path is purely an empty ground covered in sand.
Close to the beach, there will be a brick wall with half-demolished stairs. You can climb the stairs and the top of the wall will have a great vision of the beach and the surroundings. Quite a great view it is which is not to be missed.
The right to the brick wall is the way to the beach. Right next to the path, you will see the roots of the old trees. Other than that, there will be a destroyed brick room.
The best place has to be the beach and you will find sea shells here. If you are lucky, you can also see Starfish, Crabs and other few sea creatures.
Approximately, we spent two hours here looking around and taking pictures. It is an excellent place for a photoshoot. No wonder, movie scenes are shot here.
HISTORY:
There isn't much history available regarding the place. Among the two detail documents found, one was already destroyed and the other wasn't in a proper form.
The guide board which was kept in the fort entrance has the part of the history of the though.
The fort was built during the Mughal time and the export and import of goods happened through this port. Ghee was majorly traded through here.
Then, the fort came under the control of the French- commander Dupliex, There are proofs available for this. When the British took over, they destroyed the fort. The fort was further destroyed by the Tsunami which hit the place during 2004.
SUMMARY:
I would recommend this place if you love a two-hour long drive on the road surrounded by greenery and if you are a lover of photoshoots, this is one such place where you can go for. Other than that, it is pretty much nothing.
You might enjoy the place if you are good at the visualization of the place, how big, busy, and a scenic beauty the fort would be those days. If you ain't good at it, it will just be a wall and beach for you.
Children might enjoy this place as games like hide n seek will be interesting here.
COST:
It is absolutely free and is now maintained by the Government of TamilNadu as a part of tourism.
Hope you liked it. :)
